New Ideas For Old Chevys

Custom Design by Steve Stanford

Trying to put an old face on a newer body style typically results in an abomination-we’ve seen ‘em by the dozen. However, Steve Stanford has developed the only body kit concept we’ve ever seen that takes full advantage of the third-gen Camaro’s styling strengths and eliminates its weaknesses. It works surprisingly well, doesn’t it? The best part of this concept is it’s totally doable without major surgery. The body is stone stock, and the fifth-gen Camaro body kit is designed to bolt in place of the original front and rear fasciae, hood, and rocker covers. The key here is proportion. The two cars share little more than a nameplate, so a critical artist’s eye is needed to pull it off successfully. Would it sell? The kit would no doubt be expensive if developed, but considering the abundance of supercheap third-gens out there, plus the price of a fifth-gen, we think it could be an investment many owners would be willing to make.
